The Lion King may be a film adaptation of the famous Shakespearian play, but there are some differences that needed to occur for it to be a children’s movie. It was stated that “film adaptations aren’t always true to the books, ranging from a change of scenery to character changes” (Evans). This is true in the comparison of The Lion King and the play Hamlet. The movie seemed to have a fairy tale style, with a happy ending, whereas the play was a tragedy. Simba became the king and moved on to have a family, while Hamlet “was predominantly heartbreak and relentless desolation” (Comparative Analysis).
