It’s about a royal family that contains the Sea King of the ocean, his mother, and his six daughters and their castle. When each child turned the age of 15, they were allowed to go above sea and see what the world was like other under the sea. When it got to the youngest turn to go above sea, she was a little more mischievous than her sister’s. So she went further out above sea, where she seen the young prince. To her seeing him was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. She instantly fell in love with the prince and wanted human life. They shared moments but it wasn’t enough to save her to become immortal to humans and for the prince to marry her. According to Hans Christian Andersen (1836) “After three hundred years, thus shall we float into the kingdom of heaven,” said she. “And we may even get there sooner,” whispered one of her companions. “Unseen we can enter the houses of men, where there are children, and for every day on which we find a good child, who is the joy of his parents and deserves their love, our time of probation is shortened. But when we see a naughty or a wicked child, we shed tears of sorrow, and for every tear a day is added to our time of trial!”
