Comparing “The Long Watch” and “Harrison Bergeron”
In both The Long Watch and Harrison Bergeron the were ruled by political standards. Colonel Towers in “TLW” thought a scientific group should hold all the power instead of being left in political hands. His agenda was to become Chief of the world government. In “Harrison Bergeron” the United States Handicapper General Dianna Moon Glampers thought everyone should be equal so she requires everyone to wear a handicap.
In both stories they have someone in power who will do anything they need to fulfill their cause. Colonel Towers killed the Commodore so he couldn’t get in the way of his cause. Also, he thought by bombing an “unimportant town or two”
