These books may appear thrilling, only because the topics are happening today. The bears relied on these truffula trees tremendously, causing the health of the wildlife to differ. Eventually, the Once-ler leaves the town with not a single truffula tree left, and only truffula cutting machines. The onceler created machines left and right, turning every tree to needs, “A scarf that you need” simply because of the money the onceler began to make, he chose profit over wildlife, abusing the technology to overthrow the health of the environment, even though he also depended on the trees, which he did not think of until the very last truffle tree was demolished. In the novel “The City of Ember” by Jeanne Duprau, there are several examples throughout the story that highlight the theme of the abuse of technology. Many people are aware of climate change and know what consequences to expect, but continue to consume fossil fuels, waiting for someone else to decide on an alternative. The Lorax is sold as a children's book but still suggests a heavily relevant theme and topic, which is why the reader of the Lorax can thoroughly understand the theme but perhaps, the story environment cannot express the extremity of such situation, whereas in The City Of Ember, the author concentrates on how these problems can literally lead to the extinction of the human race, which helps the reader feel the gravity of these issues more clearly than The Lorax.
