In the third reading of The Macho Paradox, by Jackson Katz (2006), the author shows how men are violent to women, but also shows how some men and women have started to take action. I found that the most significant point in this reading was how boys, at young ages, are taught that being violent towards women is acceptable and in some ways a joke. Personally, I’ve heard other guys that I know talk about women as if all women are pretty toys to look at and play with. Guys slap girls butts as a way of being sexual and disrespectful, and they talk about girls as if their body parts are the only things that define them as people.
