I chose the case, “The Petrakis Family,” within this case the grandson of Magda (Alec) was most definitely the problem. Elderly abused is often time is brought upon by a family member or a close friend. It sad to say, however it the truth the most common neglect situations happen when the adult’s safety or well-being is being compromised by their inability to take care of his/her basic needs, medical needs, finances, home environment as well as personal hygiene.
Cindy the social worker assumed that the adult protective Services (APS) would have pursue after Alec due to theft of his grandmother’s money and prescription drugs. The values that are reflected is the fact that Cindy the social worker, expressed her concerns about the injustice that happened to Magda by her grandson Alec. Cindy used her advocacy skills as a mandated reporter which is report to the (APS) on any suspicion of adult abuse or neglect to the relevant authorities, as well as she reported to her immediately supervisor.
The omitted facts within this case study, is that Cindy did not ask Magda do she approve of her grandson Alec moving in to assist with her daily living.
