We need every person in China to start saving water and also to start using it wisely. China’s water source is from the three major rivers Yangtze, Yellow and Pearl. These Rivers are polluted and are almost dried up. North China is running out of water fast and people need help. Luckily the South-to-North Water Diversion Project is trying to save North China. There are three main causes of China’s water scarcity crisis: Growing Population, Global Warming, and Industrialization. Of these, the biggest driver is Industrialization.
One reason for China’s water shortage is the growing population, more people equals more water usage. From 1980 to 2011 China's population increased by 0.63 billion people (Doc B). The growing population also wants a modern “lifestyle”(Doc B). China and its people have high standards and high standards need a lot of water. There is also a high population which also requires a lot of water (Doc B). This problem helps explain China’s water shortage because the population is drinking up all the water from the lakes. …show more content…
Since the glaciers are melting, and that causes massive flooding flooding, followed by severe drought and the water supply will become horrible and irreplaceable. Global warming is also drying up a lot of rivers in the region (Doc A). According to a 2006 MSNBC report, the Qinghai-Tibet plateau glaciers are shrinking by 7% each year (Doc A). Global Warming can cause less water in the dry season, and massive flooding. Which can cause a long term decrease in water supply (Doc A).This problem helps explain China’s water shortage because global warming is making the lakes flood, and if all the glaciers get melted then there will be none left to produce water in the
