In 1975, Laura Mulvey wrote that “in film, women are typically the objects, rather than the possessors, of gaze,” (Tekanji, pars. 2). This is known as the Male Gaze. The Male Gaze refers to the concept that men look upon women as if they are objects/products. In the media, this concept is used to attract both males and females to a given product. Men are sold to believe that if they purchase said product, then they can be a man that gets an attractive woman. On the other hand, women are sold on the idea that if they purchase the product, they can get the attention of men. In today`s society, I believe the concept of the Male Gaze is still valid.
