What struck me most surprising about OCD is the story that an Ethiopian schoolgirl called Bira once ate a wall of her house because of OCD. By the time she was 17 years old she had eaten eight square metes of the wall which is more than half a tonne of mud bricks. How can a human eat and digest mud and bricks? That is no doubt the most surprising I had heard, however, her OCD is only moderately-severe because she just spent about two hours a day thinking about the wall and eating mud and OCD patients can waste up to six hours a day. So what can a OCD patient may really beyond our imagination.

After reading this book, I find that even the most famous people can be suffered with OCD. Although one-time First Lord of the Admiralty, Winston Churchill didn’t like to travel by ship just because the ego-dystonic urging he to jump into the water. It is very hard to think how a people who charge the navy could be afraid of taking a boat, what’s more, his reasons for that seemed ridiculous.
