The Monkey’s Paw

Summary: As the White’s deal with death of their son, things take a twist of fate when Mr. White “wakes up” and the entirety of the events were just a dream.
Characters:
Mr. White: An older man with salt and pepper hair. He has deep set blue eyes as well.
Mrs. White, a short older lady with brunette hair with chocolate brown eyes. She has a small hunch in her back.
Herbert, their son has blonde hair with bright brown eyes and stands tall.
Sergeant Major Morris has a limp in his walk due to war injuries. Morris also has short black hair covering his head with serpent green eyes.
Scene: The scene opens with the Whites outside their old run down cabin where Mr.White is lost in thoughts on the blacktop

WHITE: (standing in the middle of the road, clutching the monkey’s paw.) No matter what I do with it. It holds no powers, it's no longer of any value. (Mr. White chunks paw out into the road.
MRS. WHITE: (Sliding down the door frame whilst sobbing loudly.) How could you, you took my only chance at being a mother away! I hate you, you child murderer.
(Mr. White rushes up to the entrance to the home, trying to comfort his wife.)
MR. WHITE: Darling please, let it be. That monster wasn’t our son; that was something demonic even. You have to understand that I was
MRS. WHITE: (Interrupting her husband) Shut up! Just shut up, it no longer matters now, you took my son away.
MR. WHITE: Woman you’ve gone mad. You are no longer the woman I married, you’ve gone mad.
MRS. WHITE (shouting) How can you say that? You are the one who killed my son! MR. WHITE: (now shouting as well) He was my son too, or did you forget that! We can’t mourn too long, it's not going to bring Herbie back. (Takes a calming breath and talks calmly.) We cannot tarry too long, we must move on with our lives!
MRS. WHITE: (shouting and throwing her fists around) Don’t tell me how to live my life, unless of course you forgot it was

MR. WHITE: I’m going to burn that blasted monkey’s paw, It shan't bring me any disparity then!
SERGEANT MAJOR MORRIS: (wandering with Mr. White searching for the paw) I told you that it would bring you misfortune, but you didn’t listen. You thought you knew better, didn’t you. Next time you should listen to a friend, especially one who has experienced it first hand.
MR. WHITE: (shouting) Shut up you old fool. I don’t care, what is done cannot be reversed now. It no longer matters.
(Mr. White finds the paw amidst the blackberry patch and reaches in to get the talismen. He pulls the matches out of his pocket and lights the piece on fire.)
MR. WHITE: (watching the piece burn.) Now it can no longer reap havoc on my life. It is banished into the depth of hell for eternity.
(Mr. White wakes up back in his bed)
MR. WHITE: Dear, wake up! It's a quarter past 11! Why have you slept so late?
MR. WHITE: (reaching out to touch his wife's face.) Darling, what has happened, I thought you were dead!
MRS. WHITE : Darling you must have had a bad dream, I am very much alive and well.
(Mr. White rises out of bed and walks down the hall to Herbert’s room. He walks through the room and over to Herbert’s
