“Eldorado”, written by Edgar Allan Poe, shows the mood of perseverance and the theme what you want in life can be found after you die. The first example of the mood is shown when the poem says, “Had journeyed long singing a song in search of Eldorado (4-6).” The mood is shown here because this part shows that the knight looked for a long time for Eldorado, which symbolizes his dreams and goals. He wants to find this and he is working very hard to find it, no matter how difficult it may be. Another example of the theme is shown when the poem says, “ ‘Shadow,’ said he, ‘Where can it be -- this land of Eldorado (16-18)?’” Even as he is nearing death, the last thing he asks is where he can find Eldorado.
