General Zaroff was a very arrogant man because, he said, “I refuse to believe that so modern and civilized a young man as you seem to be harbors romantic ideas about the value of human life.” (25) He doesn't care about human life so, that makes him arrogant. “I'll wager you'll forget your notion when you go hunting with me.” (26) The quote tells us that Zaroff thinks he will win the hunt and rain storm will lose. Both of these quotes show that he is arrogant. The character, General Zaroff, has three main character traits cunning, violent, and arrogant. Why does it matter? Well, because the traits tell you that he is not humane by hunting animals and especially murdering humans, the story shows that he isn’t humane from paragraph three in this essay.
