American exceptionalism is the belief that the United States is unique, and exemplary among others in the international community. The belief that American values, and its political system, are like no other in human history, and with this, the implication comes with a unique entanglement in foreign affairs. What this ideology creates is a duty to intervene in almost all foreign affairs, no matter the cause or reason.
