In Shakespeare’s Othello, Othello, and his wife, Desdemona ultimately are killed. Desdemona is killed by Othello and Othello takes his own life. It can be inferred that Othello was meant to be the tragic hero, but really he was not. A tragic hero implies that bad things happen to those who are heroes, but in Othello’s case, he helped create the problems that affected him. Othello is a fool that does not deserve the title of a tragic hero just because of his fate.
First, Othello does not live up to the expectation of a hero when he made the decision to fire Cassio. Cassio is one of his most trustworthy men and did not cause any trouble given what is written. Othello does not think about his rash decision or give Cassio
