In life everyone has a burning desire to attain success. No one’s path on the journey through life is the same but everyone has that one common goal. In a department store in Texas there is a plaque that states “At The End, The One With The Most Toys Wins”. Thinking of this in two different perspectives, one person may see it as mere competitiveness whereas someone else may see it as a quote that is meant to help you through life. To find this in a department store where families shop versus finding it in a gym where athletes compete is evidence of what this quote is to symbolize. When we hear of someone winning that typically means they beat out all the other opponents. In doing so there is usually a prize received after the victory. Within this quote there is no prize promised. It does not say “At The End The One With The Most Toys Wins A Car”. This would give you more of a competitive persona. By it vaguely saying “wins” it tells you that there is a deeper meaning behind it. There is a late Author by the name of Pat Conroy who wrote a book by the name of My Losing Season. This was a memoir about his losing season as a basketball player when he played for the Citadel in college. Though, Conroy did not beat all of his opponents, at the end he was still victorious. Throughout the book he tells about how he lost almost every game. At the end of his book he explains how losing made him who he was. He was not a loser he was a winner. He found that he was not good at basketball but he was a magnificent writer. He went on to write a plethora of books, some of which were made into films. He found his voice through his losing season.
