Consequently, the father figure models for the Wes Moore's is Tony the other Wes brother and the military sergeant for Wes. By joining military school Wes learns that “...they cared if I succeeded…” (Moore 115). Both his family and the military wants to see Wes succeed and be the best that he can be. Moreover, the other Wes does not have the same supportive people. The only person he can look up to is his brother Tony. “Wes wanted to be just like Tony.
