The PRWORA Act of 1996 was introduced by President Bill Clinton to reduce the spending of the overextended social welfare programs that has cost the taxpayers over 1 trillion dollars. The president wanted to lower the poverty rates, children born out of wedlock, dependency on the welfare programs, and even spousal and child abuse. As of 2015, there are still debates that suggest the Welfare Reform has been successful. There are single women with children that still live in poverty, economic and social future are unknown, and welfare program are in need of another overhaul.
