Like I mentioned earlier, people have their own sort of reality online that exists independently of the real world. In the short documentary The Persuaders, the biggest company you never hear of was introduces: Acxiom. This business is essentially just a giant building filled with computers that hold a various amount of data on every single person with a computer blueprint. Acxiom doesn’t just keep information on “Your name, your face, and your phone number; but probably also the catalogues you get, the cars you have bought, and maybe even the shoes you wear and whether you like dogs or cats”. All of the data on what websites you prefer if information that the company Acxiom can use and sell to other businesses. “Acxiom sifts through all the data and creates lists of target consumers for their clients”. So in reality, these companies are paying to find out what kinds of products you would be more likely to buy and in response, come up with some business offer for that person specifically. Your technological reality was used in reality by businesses to create a promotions that would benefit them the most, which would then be effecting your life in some way shape or form in the real world. In this cycle, the fake and the real realities are blended together in what appears to be an ordinary day of business. The line between one and the other are not easily
