Many times in the past, prior to reading a book, novel, or any work of art i would not prepare myself correctly using the concept of pre-reading. Pre-reading greatly fits the literacy criteria of reading; it allows a reader to think about what they already know about a given work of literature/topic and make predictions on them. Throughout the year of world literature, as a class we always thoroughly investigated works of literature in preparation to beginning them. The pre-reading of the Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison substantially aided my approach to reading the novel.
