In this day and age, various terms associated with economic development came about as means of measuring the well-being of each individual in the society such as per capita income, gross domestic product (GDP), gross national product (GNP), unemployment rate, literacy rate, and many more. The emergence of these terminologies is due to the consideration of government planners of each nation to make a step forward to reach economic development. Of course, compromises should be done in order to acquire the advantages brought about by the ideology of progress. But if you will come to think of it, what is the price to achieve them and how much are we willing to pay?

On the positive note, the solutions to respond to various diseases emerging in the community are attained through research and development although new strains of these diseases are found that makes things more problematic.
One of the concepts related with development is urbanization. Detribalized people from rural areas crowds in the urban to seek for opportunities to alleviate them from poverty and in order for them to reach the new necessities dictated by the changes. Because of the overpopulation in the urban areas, malnutrition became a major problem that can further lead to changes in their diet and lifestyles. We could relate the idea of shortage with malnutrition and the changing diet and lifestyle of the detribalized people. Since they are forced to be a part of the world-market economy, they are no longer self-sufficient since their resources are already taken from them. Instead, they should earn and spend their income on expensive and often less nutritious food.
