As the feminist movement came into way, women started to demand more rights. This move resulted in Congress passing The Equal Rights Amendment. ERA was put into public view so that women would be able to have the same opportunity as men; it provided women with benefits in the law for wives, widows and mothers; lift women out of their so-called "second-class citizenship”; it provided women with a chance to get into colleges by making them coed; and would require companies to make unisex insurance as well as other benefits. Though just because this Amendment passed doesn't mean that it leveled out the playing field; women are still paid less than men, still discriminated against, and still fighting for the same things we have been fighting for
