Now a days in the United States of America you can not get a job without your high school diploma. With a high school diploma under your name it means, you have the basic knowledge and set of skills to maintain a job. What happens when a young adult gets their diploma without knowing the basic skills they need? Or when they apply for a job and the employers find out they can't read or write to a full extent? With that being said, i agree with Mary Sherry’s thesis, that passing kids without meeting the standards just put them at a bigger disadvantage. Flunking students is not a bad thing. Some students need to learn how to put their education first despite of what's going on around them. People go through difficult times in their life and
