When we think of space people tend to think of NASA and space travel, but are there other people doing this? Well, what they have been doing? Should they be allowed to? People should be allowed to travel to space just like NASA does. The funding of the government has been cut because of the retirement of the Space Shuttle Program. The Space Shuttle Program used the space shuttles to carry food and supplies to the space station, and for some help with space travel over time and for different causes. The Space Shuttle Program retiring is also an cause of many people losing their jobs. We do not have a spacecraft made on U.S. soil, and they can use private investors to their advantage. This is one of the reasons why space travel should be privatized. The US needs help on creating a spacecraft that can be used to for American astronauts, and for them not to have to pay money to use a spacecraft that belongs to someone else. Currently, the US pays about 70 million dollars just for a seat on a Russian ship. “Instead of paying the Russians more than $70 million a seat to ride their Soyuz spacecraft to the space station, the contract would give the United States the ability, for the first time in years, to launch American astronauts into space from U.S. soil” (Davenport par.3). NASA needs private investors to help make a ship that is made on U.S. soil, to make sure we are not sending money we do not necessarily need …show more content…
They had the shuttles bring them supplies and food for the astronauts in the International Space Station.Like when they are in the space station they need clothes, food, and water and things of like that, so NASA used space shuttle to send them those things. The space shuttle is now gone so there’s no way for them to get things like that. “With the space shuttle's retirement Thursday, no longer will flying people and cargo up to the International Space Station be a government program where costs balloon”(Satlin par.2). The government is no longer funding them, so they have to use private investors, or plan on using other nations to help them come back, and for the space station. This is reason enough that they should use private investors to make them a ship to depend on themselves. This would help them also with the funding problems and any other problems they might run into. This could reopen opportunities and would provide people with jobs.
