The Electoral College has been around for hundreds of years, but is it necessary any longer? In 2018, the Electoral College is obsolete, unfair, and no longer necessary. Many are of the opinion of Andrew Prokop, and believe “The Electoral College ignores the will of the people.” The Electoral College was created over 250 years ago to aid the laborious process of voting, when transportation was rudimentary, and traveling difficult. Now, it is merely causing disruptions among the American people. In many cases, the majority popular votes does not mean that the candidate will win. According to Prokop, just in the last election, “Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by more than one million votes, yet still lost the election on electoral votes.”
