For years now the Koch brothers have been trying to buy Congress and their attempts just continue to get more and more legit. In 2014, during mid-terms the Koch brothers attempted to outspend the Republican and Democratic parties combined. They were willing to pay over $125 million in an effort to boost conservatives (Easley, Politicus USA). In the 2012 election the Koch brothers spent a combined $400 million to promote Republicans with over 44,000 ads in an attempt to take back the Senate (Dickinson, Rolling Stone). The Koch brothers need to be taken down before this attempt to buy out congress becomes a reality. Jason Easley really says it as it is in his advice to all voters when he says, “The Kochs can buy ads, but they can’t buy votes” (Easley, Politicus USA). Not only does this duo of brothers need to be stopped from doing bad to society, but their business needs to be stopped as well from causing pollution. Every year Koch industries generates an outrageous 24 million metric tons of greenhouse gases, one of the main reasons they are a leading company in pollution (Dickinson, Rolling Stone). If the issue of pollution was not enough to shine a negative light on Koch industries, they have also been accused of dirty business practices. Koch industries has drawn many federal investigations on their business practices, many of which being found guilty and facing fines or penalties (Dickinson, Rolling Stone). Falsey business practices could be one of the worst things for our country at the current time considering we are currently facing many other issues and should not need to waste time resolving an issue that should never happen in the first place. Before any of these issues involving Koch industries get out of control somebody should investigate not only the Koch brothers, but Koch industries as a whole to try to bring them down as well as their company. The fall of power of the Koch brothers would ultimately result in better lives for everyone instead of just better lives for the rich like the brothers had always hoped
