The planning of the Suez Canal came form the French, Ferdinand de Lesseps negotiated with Egypt, about the Suez canal Company in hopes to build this massive water way. The Egyptian Viceroy agreed and thousands of Egyptian peasants were forced to hard labor. The Suez Canal was finally finished and opened up in 1869, after 10 years of tough labor. The disadvantages of the Suez Canal was it led to the death of 120,000 Egyptian peasants. The advantage was because of the new water way, shipment became easier, less expensive, and much faster. When the Egyptian ruler Ismail Pasha Banned force labor of Egyptians, The Suez Canal's progress took a drastic halt. The construction picked pack up again when new technological tools came into play. With
