Every movie and TV show you have ever watched has been trying to push a certain agenda onto you since day one. Whenever you turn on the TV and watch a movie or your favorite show, the creators of these have been trying to make you think and feel the way that they do. That’s what advertising does: has you sit in front of a screen as the marketer tries to sell you their wares. Even if you don’t need or want what they are selling, the phrasing, which might be a comedic skit to trick you into listening to what they have to say, compels you to give them your money. Movies and television shows are on a much larger level than commercials, and are more appealing to spend all of your time watching and keeping up with, so the ideas the writers of those mediums are trying to communicate to you is far more ingrained into your mind. If the writers can make the background interesting enough, or their message subtle enough, they can change your views and control your mind with a single episode, without you even noticing.

In most cases, two characters are introduced, and through time, the writers provide evidence of romantic attraction between them. Fans recognize these signs, and get excited that a show they love is finally reaching beyond the bounds of bland heteronormativity all across the board. ------- It’s an eternal cliffhanger used by homophobic screenwriters to gain a broader audience to make a higher profit, but still hold on to their bigoted beliefs. Many times, in the low possibility that the writer wishes to show a minimal amount of representation, the one or both subjects of the Queerbait™ confess their feelings, or come out of the closet in some way, and then are immediately killed off. This has happened on so many occasions it has been labeled the “Bury Your Gays”
