The Renaissance? Did You Mean “Light ‘Em Up” by Fall Out Boy?
The Renaissance was the burst of light following the dark ages. The dark ages were full of political instability, repressed ideas, and lack of learning for all classes. The renaissance brought the upper classes education, appreciation of the arts, the study of languages, a new view on religion, intellectual flourshipment and advancements in technology. There’s a reason the French called the renaissance a “rebirth”, and the reason is for the first time in hundreds of years, creativity was allowed bloom.
Creativity comes in many different forms, it’s not just found in the paintings the renaissance is known for. Written works began to spread and become more popular. Scholars began to translate the ancient writings from Greece and Rome. The Greek and Roman writings helped the scholars explore a world not completely controlled by Christianity. The ancient works sparked an interest and need for education. This form of education was called the “classical education” because it focused on the “classic” works of the Greeks and Romans (pg. 326, 328).

The renaissance's writing, paintings and sculptures reflected a growing interest in what it means to be human. The dark ages art focused on divinity, artists most commonly painted and sculpted divine acts, whereas the renaissances art focused on daily life of the (usually upper class) people. Even the religious works had a more human feel to them. The artists in the renaissance really explored the idea of humanity being created in God’s
