The Ripple Effect
Imagine a quiet pond. There is no wind, no movement, just a flat, glassy sheet of water. Now imagine that someone throws a stone into the middle. What will happen? That’s right; ripples. They won’t stop until they hit the edge of the pond, and even then, a few bounce back to touch the place where it all began. Time works in the same way. Every decision we made affects thousands of others’ decisions, which affect even more, until eventually the consequences of our own actions hit us again, often in unexpected ways. Few things have affected the history of America more than the Scottsboro Trials.
The most prominent way that the Trials affected the country is that
