Plenty of individuals are given a set of rules to pursue, whether that would be in an educational system, or at the place they call home. In the novel Anthem, that is exactly what happens in that world, except in a much higher degree. Anthem is set in a dystopian future, where there are even rules set in a place where you cannot say the unspeakable word “I” because they must refer to their brothers, or whom they are equal to, and whom they must only love. If they were to speak it, they would be punished by death. There, of course, are reasons why the rules are set in stone and a purpose of them being set.
