God is impressed by character.” In “The Scarlet Ibis” and “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” the authors develop their characters similarly through direct characterization and differently through indirect and inner thoughts characterization. A similar technique that I believe both authors use to develop their characters is direct characterization.
