The Governor’s Hall - Symbolism Essay
Chapter seven of The Scarlet Letter is a very important piece to the character’s development. The chapter starts off with Hester worried about Pearl being taken away and goes to see the governor. On the way to the governor’s mansion Hester and Pearl are confronted by a few other characters. The development of the characters is most clearly illustrated by three key symbols: Pearl’s elegant apparel, the group of children, and the pair of gloves for the governor.
