In this specific book, he focuses most of his research on historical figures like Mark Twain, the Book of Exodus, bacteria, climate change, and mummies. He perfectly blends fact and fiction that it is hard to tell the difference from the two. Because of this, in the back of every book he writes he includes a truth or fiction section to explain all his research.
Plot Twist that keep a reader second guessing is an important component any good book and the Seventh Plague is full of them. One of the major twist is that one of the secondary characters who is thought to be an innocent victim turns out to actually working for the villains. Also, James brings back a group from another book in the Sigma Force series, the Guild, which was thought to have been wiped out. Another interesting plot twist, it that the bacteria that causes the plague is used to try to stop global warming by a millionaire scientist.
