I grew up in here in the Unites States. But like many immigrants, I was born in another country. I was very young when my family moved to the U.S for a better life. When asked, immigrants always talk about how their move to America changed their life for the better. However, no one talks about the struggles and obstacles they have to overcome to get to where they are in life. The struggles I faced as a child of an immigrant connects me to a particular character in Seedfolks. Traveling to America was very difficult for my parents. Leaving everything you know and coming to a place whose language you can’t even speak, let alone understand was beyond difficult.
