Just think about being out on the street because an individual's parents don’t want to work. Just imagine going days without food, clean clothes, or having a social life. Well, that was Jeannette’s life, barely any food, little socializing other than her family and when she actually go to go to a school, and never having clean clothes or clothes with no holes in them. The author says that “Jeannette falls out of the car and waits for her family” (30). A family is a group of people who care about more than anything. Though times may be hard and you have nothing this will show the love Jeannette has for her family, she stays they come back for her, they could have kept going or she could have kept walking.
