The book Esperanza Rising was a very emotion changing book. In the book, Esperanza discovers many strengths some of which are independence, confidence, and creativity. If Papa had lived she would not have discovered any of these strengths because he had workers do everything for them so she never did anything on her own. Without papa, she no longer had anyone to do all these things for her. In the year of 2009, my baby brother was born and I had to become more responsible and independent to survive at first it was a little hard knowing that I wouldn't be the baby anymore but, just like esperanza I got used to it. A situation I would like to fix is poverty. I would like to fix poverty because 43.1 million Americans struggle with poverty.
