In John Harris’s, “The Survival Lottery”, he writes about the distinction between “killing” and “letting die”. He writes that it is assumed there must be a moral difference between the two, and we have an obligation not to kill. Harris however, wants to argue against this assumption. He writes that there is a challenge to maximizing good consequences, because it seems to imply that, if two people are going to die and can be saved by killing one other person, we should do so. Harris believes that we could support killing one person to save two, on a regular basis.
