The TV Show 'Trailer Park Boys'

The TV show I chose is called Trailer Park Boys. TPB is a Canadian TV show about a trailer park in Nova Scotia and essentially brings life to all the stereotypes regarding those who live in trailer parks. That includes toxic language, drugs, crime, alcoholism, and prostitution. The official rating is TV-MA which I think is acceptable but it could probably fit within the R category too. Although it mentions and summarizes a lot of R-rated things, it doesn't necessarily show them in great detail, there's no gore or nudity or anything like that (that I remember anyway).

A review from Marrit Ingman of the Austin Chronicle calls the show "terrifically addicting after two or three views" once you get warmed up to the characters, dry humor, and contrapuntal editing. Another review from Kari Croop of Common Sense Media says that older teens might be drawn to the show's outlandish plotlines and quirky characters. I agree with both of those reviews, especially the parts about how outlandish the plot is and how dry the humor is.

It portrays everyone living in a trailer park as an uneducated, drunk, high, and violent loser. A few other examples I can think of are when the characters throw piss jugs around to make fun of truck drivers, the "gangsters" of the trailer park sag their pants and slur when they talk, and how Lahey, the park supervisor, is a wannabe cop.
