“The Tell-Tale Heart” is a story that focuses on the deranged mind of the main character as he plots and kills the old man with vulture eyes. This story has an interesting tone and diction that the narrator uses to make himself sound sane when really he's insane. This cleaver use of diction can be seen used in several parts of the text, for example, “I moved it slowly — very, very slowly” and “I undid the lantern cautiously-oh, so cautiously — cautiously”.
