The depth of loyalty.
Dear Alana,
We have been friends for over two decades now and it hurts me to know that we cannot see eye to eye when it comes to your so-called husband. I don’t understand how you can be so loyal to a man that is so mean and disrespectful to you in every aspect of your relationship. I can reflect on our conversations when we were young about how we want to fall in love with prince charming, getting married, having a picture-perfect family with two children and living in the suburb. You were one who could have turned any man’s head when you walk into a room. You have always been well educated and independent and somewhat of a go-getter, but since …show more content…
According to Kreon, no one should bury the body of a traitor, that being Polyneikes. In Antigone’s eyes, she is doing the right thing according to the Gods and it is a way of remaining loyal to her family, but she also wants to keep her uncle happy, however she cannot because it would mean going against her loyalty to her family and not giving her brother a proper burial. She already grieves at the fact that she has lost both of her brothers because of her uncle, and that one brother, Eteokles got a proper burial because he was his uncle’s favorite and that her other brother is laying out in the dessert where is body is being eaten by vultures. To Ismene she has already lost two brothers, her mother and father, and her sister is all …show more content…
These stories show that everyday people put their lives on the line in honor of their loyalty to family, spouse, religion and country. Although these matters are important in life, it played a major role in the life of Antigone and the decision she made to give her brother a proper burial. She knew that the Gods were looking down on Kreon and that he would get what was coming to him, although he thought he was doing the right thing by being loyal to the state, he turned a blind eye to the pain and suffering that it caused his loved ones. As for Griselda, she was completely loyal to a man that took her children away from her and did not question his authority. She is loyal to him because she thinks she is owes him for choosing her to be his wife despite of all the women that was at his disposal. At the end of the day we have to ask ourselves at what length are we willing to go to show honor and loyalty to another individual without being untrue and disloyal to ourselves and are we willing to live with the decisions of those sacrifices the rest of our lives, whether the outcome is good or bad. After reading these stories I would like you to reflect on your own life and relationship with Kobe and see whether he in worthy of your loyalty to
