Maturity is a key feature of personality. Maturity communicates the extent to one’s sophistication and development. Age cannot guarantee whether or not one is mature, It should be proven and earned through one’s actions. Moreover, age cannot be the sole definer of maturity because there are many cases were adults to idiotic things and cases where the children have been more mature than adults. For example, in Their Eyes Were Watching God, Logan Killicks was Janie’s oldest husband yet he treated Janie the worst. Tea Cake was the youngest of Janie’s husbands, even younger than Jeanie herself, yet he knew how to properly treat Jeanie. Even though Tea Cake was the youngest, he set aside his ego and knew to treat Janie with respect and equality.
