The two main eating disorders treated at The Renfrew Center Eating Disorder Treatment Facility were anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder that is visible by extreme weight loss. People with anorexia nervosa go to extensive measures to limit the amount calories and types of foods they eat. Bulimia Nervosa is characterized by binge eating followed by purging (vomiting, misusing laxatives, fasting, excessive exercise, etc.) in attempt to lose extensive amounts of weight. Anorexia nervosa and nervosa bulimia are both mental and physical illnesses that in some cases can last a lifetime.

Renfrew really reminded me of a mix between a college dorm and an assisted living center. I thought of it as a college dorm mostly because it housed young women, and some of the group comradery reminded me of college relations. On the other end of the spectrum, the facility felt as if it was an environment suitable for a senior citizen a set bedtime, only certain items allowed into the rooms, no smoking, etc. Much of the freedom that these women had prior was completely striped, thus it seemed as if there was some hostility between staff and residents at
