The conflicts within the Trueba Del Valle family mirror society in a myriad of ways. To begin with, for instance, Esteban Trueba being a raging misogynistic monster refuses to acknowledge the children he rapes into his victims while facing very few consequences, much like the powerful men in today’s society. In addition, the story also portrays the rigid struggle between classes, with the Del Valle’s having a place in high society while the Garcia’s live as peasants.
