The novel Reservation Blues by Sherman Alexie tells the story of a band, Coyote Springs, whose lives are shaped by music, along with the help of magic realism. Magic realism helps emphasize the amount of power music has and any thing of great power can be dangerous. the-man-who-was-probably-Lakota told Thomas “You be careful with that music, enit? Music can be a dangerous thing.”(12) Power can be used for both good and evil. Things of great power even if they were created with good intent, like nuclear Science for example, can cause a great deal of destruction. Music in this novel is one such power.
