If you compare two different texts or stories, you can realize that they will have something in contrast or they have comparisons. However, they have different conflicts; one story relates to the vietnam war and the other text relates to the accident of 9/11. In the text “ The Names” and “ The Wall of Remembrance,” they both share the same theme; The theme of remembrance. They share the same theme because they both relate to the carvings of people, people become emotional when looking at their loved ones names, and also when they give something or do something for their loved ones.

This allows them to remember that I gave something to someone. In the text The Names it states, “ In the morning, I walked out barefoot Among thousands of flowers Heavy with dew like the eyes of tears, And each had a name— Fiori inscribed on a yellow petal… When I peer into the woods, I see a thick tangle where letters are hidden As in a puzzle concocted for children. Parker and Quigley in the twigs of an ash, Rizzo, Schubert, Torres, and Upton, Secrets in the boughs of an ancient maple.” This proves that the people put something to remember for example the person saw flowers all over that had names on them. In the text The Wall of Remembrance it states, “The outpouring of messages and mementos left at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is unique; no other national memorial has evoked such a response… Notes and letters left at the memorial are different. You understand, at least in part, the emotion behind them. And I remember a card left at the wall by a woman whose husband’s name was on one of the black granite panels. She had put the card there on what would have been their silver wedding anniversary— twenty-five years.
