Greg Kater's novel - The Warramuga's war is a historical fiction novel about the experiences of two soldiers - Lieutenant James Munro and Coporal Jack O'brien, both in the Australian army fighting the Pro-Nazi Vichy French in Syria and Lebanon. The subject of the book is partly inspired by the experiences of the author's father during the war in the Middle East, and partly by his own experiences in the Northern Australia.

Lieutenant James Munro was part of the Army engineers' unit attached to the 2/5th battalion currently fighting the Vichy French. His task was to make a list of map coordinates of all enemy installations. His family came from the Northern territory, and he thinks he inherited some of the old Warramuga so called 'mystic' skills, which he says is the source of his sharp-shooting abilities.

Some weeks after their initial encounter, the Vichy French surrendered and the Syrian campaign became officially over. Lieutenant James Munro was promoted to the rank of Captain and is ready to be transferred to a new detachment which will initially be based in Egypt. James recommends his friend - Corporal Jack O'brien (who he had met on the field, and who had also been promoted to the rank of Sergeant) to his superior officer, Colonel Jacobs as his choice for a trusted NCO who'll work alongside himself on his new assignment in Egypt.

Now, the Captain and his friend is well on their way to Egypt on this new assignment, what fate lies ahead of them? Would they be successful together? Would there be betrayals? Would any or both of them turn double agents due to personal ambitions?
These possibilities and many other plot- twists would be revealed to the reader who reads this very interesting historical fiction novel till the final full
