In “The World of Doublespeak” the second and third paragraphs of the introduction rally caught my attention because he describes what “doublespeak” means in a very clear manor and then proceeds to give very good examples of how language can be easily construed to fit someone’s agenda such as describing the “stock market crash in 1987” was called a “fourth quarter equity retreat” by Lutz. His content on the introduction gave an explanation of his topic and he described it in a clear way laying out the foundation for the rest of the essay, without this clear description I would have no idea what he was talking about.
