Her Mind and Metaphors
“The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Gilman, is a short story about a woman named Jane that suffers from depression. Her husband doesn't really think anything is wrong with her and he misdiagnosed her with hysteria and prescribes "the rest cure." Jane is on bed rest and begins to grow bored.This analysis will be telling you about style and symbolism in the text.
The style in the narrative is unique. It was very different for there to be a twist with Jayne talking in metaphors. This short story is told in the first person. As a result, we are aware of the narrator's feelings, thoughts, and the way in which she perceives the events unfolding around her. The
