Dear Parents:
As educators, we try to encourage active participation among the diverse and busy families we work with in ways that consider each families structure, needs, lifestyle, and schedule. In preschool we teach children about health, wellness, nutrition, and safety. I am sure your child will come home and tell you or challenge you on what they have learned in school. This is a very exciting time in their lives. The preschool teachers want to offer families support for continuing this education in the home to help create healthy lifestyles in school and at home.

Invite your child to explore, build and craft with the materials to explore how they move. Ask your child how the materials are alike. If they do not use the word bend, introduce the term and ask them to show you what parts of their bodies can bend. Ask questions to help them identify bending parts, such as their necks, elbows, knees, ankles, wrists, fingers, toes, waists etc. Encourage them to demonstrate the many ways they can bend each body part they name, and then suggest they use the bendable art supplies to mimic bending various body …show more content…
