The 1905 football season was called “death harvest” because 18-19 people died and 137 injured that season. The leather helmets didn’t help at all, people were getting concussion left and right. So parents stopped their kids from playing football because it was a tough sports with little protection and a high chance of getting injured or killed. Most of the death were college students as a result one of the universities wanted to abolish football. Theodore Roosevelt who was a huge fan of the sport had to step in to save football by inviting the coaches and athletic advisers from Harvard University, Yale University and Princeton University to the White House to enforce new rules to the game.
